Emergency Locum Service

This Service is one of the suite of programs under the Rural Pharmacy Workforce Programmes which are designed to strengthen and support the rural pharmacy workforce, in turn to provide increased access to quality pharmacy services for consumers residing in rural and remote regions of Australia.

The Emergency Locum Service provides support to pharmacists in rural and remote areas through direct access to locums in emergency situations such as illness, bereavement, or family emergencies.

The service provides 24 hour a day, seven day a week telephone access and up to $2,500 to fund the travel costs of the locum. The service aims to place a locum in any location in Australia within 24 hours for a maximum of 7 days.

This service is only available to rural pharmacy owners in true emergencies, for example, the death of a pharmacist, spouse or family member or personal emergencies such as sickness or accident.

Applications for the Emergency Locum Service may be made via the ‘Apply’ button above.
